Minister-Counsellor Amano’s Home Page Message
I was assigned to this Embassy 5th September 2002, directly from Hong Kong, as Minister-Counsellor in the role of Deputy Chief of Mission. It is my first experience of Europe and it is a joy for me to be in Oslo as a diplomat. I find everything that is happening here most interesting.
Japan and Norway have mutually built up close relations, cooperating in the field of politics, economy as well as culture. In 2005 we will have the centennial anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Norway and we are now planning various kinds of events not only to celebrate this anniversary but also to start a new era of friendly relations between our two countries.
Bearing this in mind, during my assignment I would like to make a major effort, with your support, to expand and strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between Japan and Norway.
So, it would greatly please us if this Home Page could contribute to deepening or extending your interest and knowledge of Japan. We welcome any comments and ideas you may have, also with regard to improving this Home Page. We are endeavouring to encourage direct communication with you by leaving the door of this Embassy’s “mind” wide open, in order to strengthen diplomatic ties between our two countries.
We are greatly looking forward to your positive response to us!
